Institutions versus collaboration
A great 2005 Ted talk by Clay Shirky where he points out how valuable the "power law" distribution of effort can be – especially compared with the many limits faced by brick and mortar institutions. It leads him to question institutions as enabler or as obstacle… and predict a 50 years chaotic process to have them been replaced by sets of collaboration groups.
