Franck Cammas Champion du Monde de Class C

Saturday, September 28th, 2013

Yacht Racing Image of the Year 2012

Saturday, December 15th, 2012

The photographer Kurt Arrigo, from Malta is awarded for his photography taken during the Volcano Race, featuring the yacht Nilaya and the reflection of the island of Capri on her hull.

“This picture has been taken during the Volcano Race 2012″, said photographer Kurt Arrigo soon after being awarded. “The weather had been bad all day, but the sun suddenly came out for a short while. We were leaving the area but I asked the pilot of the helicopter to fly back briefly over the leading boat; that’s when I took this photograph.”

Super Dick

Modern yachts can sail at an average speed of 23 knots while their skipper (here Jean-Pierre Dick) wanders around… and sometimes gets washed. Genuine exhilaration!

Dick by Riou

Monday, October 15th, 2012

The Vendée-Globe is a round-the-world single-handed yacht race. The 6th sequel will start on November 10 and is run on IMOCA 60-foot Open monohulls (18.28 metres). Each race has been an epic human adventure, and it’s too bad it nearly remains a French affair (since 12.5 skippers out of 20 are French).

This video relates a 24 hours tour made by Yann Riou aboard Jean-Pierre Dick’s Virbac-Paprec. Something like the ordinary day of those extraordinary people sailing amazingly fast.

Oracle flies… I mean the boat

Saturday, October 6th, 2012

While AC45s, the "small boats", are competing for the Louis Vuitton cup

… the AC72s are training for "lift-off" and let us foresee an exhilarating competition for the America’s Cup:

After breaking a daggerboard during first tests at sea, Oracle team had to build a spare part using a foil from USA-17, 2010 America’s Cup winner… and achieves a perfect all hulls lift-off.

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Maybe you can’t understand what they say…. roughly just that they will try to reach Honolu from Los Angeles with a wind machine able to run above 100 km/h… when there is no wave to hurt… and they hope they can make it through the swell of the Pacific Ocean.

So, simply watch… this boat is just fantastic
